Weight Loss

This is not a diet. Tips 1 and 2 are mandatory. Following these guidelines will greatly help you succeed. This medication will change your brain, your stomach, and insulin metabolism.

The goal is to eat real food, the foods you enjoy, just less of them. The medication will help you accomplish this by reducing your cravings and your desire to overeat.

  1. Eat a high-protein breakfast within 1.5 hours of waking: 2 eggs and a piece of toast is an example of an easy, high protein breakfast. Aim for 20+ grams of protein)
  2. Do not consume artificial sweeteners or diet products of any kind. Examples of diet products include labels that say low calorie, low sugar, sugar free or diet. Examples of artificial sweeteners are Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal), Saccharin (Sweet 'N Low), Sucralose (Splenda), Luo Han Guo (Monk Fruit), Stevia (Truvia, PureVia and similar), Pre-made protein shakes (Premiere Protein and similar). If you consume these foods, your brain will interpret them as sugar, which spikes insulin and drives fat into your cells making your body hold onto fat. Artificial sweeteners will make you hungry and hinder your weight loss progress.
  3. Consume a minimum of 700 calories a day in 3 separate meals: Prioritize 20+ grams of protein at each meal to prevent muscle loss. Examples of proteins are lunch meat, chicken, fish or cheese. Lunch: At lunch time, eat a small meal. Example of a simple small lunch is 1 piece bread, lunch meat (protein), tomato, lettuce and a condiment. Dinner: Eat what you normally eat for dinner but smaller portions. You will find you will eat less than half of the volume you used to eat. Do not continue to eat if you feel full. Snacks: Do not deprive yourself of a craving, just don't overdo it! If you want a cookie, eat it, but don't eat the whole box! The medication will decrease cravings and reduce the desire to overeat, including over-eating snacks.
  4. Do not overeat! Eat small portions throughout the day. If you overeat on these medications, you will feel sick. You may experience heartburn, nausea, and indigestion. Cut down on your portions until those feelings subside.

5 - Exercise is not mandatory, but a 30-minute walk, 3-5 times per week, will increase your weight loss by 1.5 - 2 pounds per month.
